Hogwarts Legacy: New gameplay showcase reveals flying, customization, and combat!

Get ready to cast spells and engage in combat in Hogwarts Legacy

Get ready to soar on your broom or hippogriff and explore the magical world of Hogwarts Legacy! The upcoming game, set in the beloved Harry Potter universe, recently released a gameplay showcase highlighting some of its new features.

First, players will have the option to fly around the castle and even travel to other villages and locations outside of Hogwarts. You'll be able to take in the changing seasons as you explore, adding a level of realism to the game.

In addition to flying, players can also customize their gear, creatures, and the Room of Requirement. Conjure up some spells to truly make the space your own.

But perhaps the most exciting part of the showcase is the Dark Arts Battle Arena. In this segment, players can engage in combat using spells to defeat enemies. The gameplay even features the use of the Avada Kedavra killing curse, a powerful and deadly spell from the Harry Potter franchise.

It's worth noting that combat and teenage protagonists engaging in it are not unusual in games. However, it is a departure from the Harry Potter books, which often treated combat as a last resort and focused on the everyday lives and magical adventures of students at Hogwarts. The use of the killing curse in the game may surprise fans of the books, where it was considered unforgivable.

Despite the controversy surrounding Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and her transphobic comments, the game is moving forward with its release. Rowling is not involved in the game's development, according to studio leadership. However, the game remains based on her original universe and she will receive royalties.
Hogwarts Legacy is set to launch on February 10, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. The game was recently delayed for release on PS4 and Xbox One until April 4, and the Nintendo Switch version will be available on July 25.
Gamers and fans of the Harry Potter franchise will have to wait and see how the game's content is received. In the meantime, get ready to fly and cast spells in the magical world of Hogwarts Legacy.
