Attention, Spider-Man fans! Insomniac Games has announced that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will launch on PlayStation 5 in fall 2023. This long-awaited sequel to 2018's hit Spider-Man game promises to continue the exciting adventures of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they face off against the villainous Venom.
In a PlayStation Blog post, Insomniac's creative director Bryan Intihar said:
"What a year it's been for PlayStation Studios. Here at Insomniac Games we've been in absolute awe of the work of our peers. Congrats to everyone on a successful 2022, and here's to next year being just as exciting as we continue to get Marvel's Spider-Man 2 ready for release next fall."
Fans of the Spider-Man series may remember that the developer reassured gamers of the 2023 release window back in October. However, delays are common in the video game industry, so many were still worried that the game might slip into 2024. Thankfully, it looks like Insomniac is on track to deliver the game next fall.
In addition to featuring the iconic web-slinger and his teenage sidekick, Spider-Man 2 will also introduce players to a familiar (but no less dangerous) enemy: Venom. The game's voice actor has even teased that the game will be "massive," so fans can expect an epic showdown between Spider-Man and his arch-nemesis.
Marvel Entertainment's creative vice president Bill Rosemann has also commented on the game, saying that it will be "a little darker" than the two previous entries in the Spider-Man series. This hints at a more mature and intense story for players to experience.
Spider-Man 2 will be the first mainline entry in PlayStation's Spider-Man series since the original game, but fans of Miles Morales can rest assured that the spin-off featuring the teenage hero was released for PlayStation 4 and as a PS5 launch title back in November 2020.
So mark your calendars, Spider-Man fans, and get ready for an epic adventure with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5 in fall 2023!
